How do I sync my data to video?

Here’s how to get the best results when syncing your eo SwimBETTER data to video.

  1. Shoot at 30FPS.
This frame rate aligns best with how the platform processes video and ensures smoother playback.

  2. Export your video at 720p resolution.
Transfer footage from your camera to your computer, then export and save it at 720p. Even if you upload in 4K, our system harmonises all videos to 720p when processing — so you’ll save time and space by exporting at that resolution from the start.

  3. Keep it short – two laps max.
Anything longer adds no extra value for analysis and just makes syncing slower.

  4. Capture the sync point.
At the start of filming, record one handset as it flashes. The very first frame when the LED goes off is your sync point — that’s exactly when the handsets begin recording.

  5. Record a visual check point.
Try to capture the moment the swimmer’s hands first enter the water with the handsets facing the camera. It’s a great way to visually confirm that your sync is spot on.

  6. Fine-tune with the nudge tool.
If your sync is off by a few frames, don’t worry. Use the nudge button to align the red line on the graph with where the data begins. Freeze the red line, then scrub through the video frame by frame until the handsets hit the water — then hit save.

Filming tips:
If you’re shooting with a GoPro on a stick, aim for side-on footage up the lap and a front-on shot as the swimmer approaches the wall.

Once you’ve done this a couple of times, syncing becomes second nature, but if you’re stuck email us at support@eolab.com for help.
